EV Charger Types Explained
Understanding charger levels helps you and your electrician choose the right option:
• Level 1 Charger (120V)
Plugs into a standard 15A or 20A receptacle and supplies up to about 5 miles of range per hour. Best for light, overnight charging or hybrid vehicles.
• Level 2 Charger (240V)
The most common choice for homes and businesses. These chargers typically range from 20A to 80A and supply roughly 9 to 52 miles of range per hour, depending on the vehicle and charger. • Level 3 Charger (480V DC Fast Charging)
